Welcome!
As your local churches, we’re excited to be presenting the Golden Bay Carols this year. Christmas is a special time of the year for us, as we remember God stepping into our messy world to rescue us. He experienced the pains and joys of life, just like us. But He came to announce that His Kingdom was near, and to invite us to be a part of it. Just imagine it: life forever with the God who loves us. His Kingdom in a world without hurt or pain or sorrow or anything wrong. That’s something to get excited about! Even the angels couldn’t help but burst into song when they announced His arrival all those years ago!
If you’d like to find out more about Jesus, or receive a free Bible, please come and see us at the church stall.
We hope and pray that you have a wonderful evening, and invite you to join us at one of our Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services. God has given us reason to rejoice in Jesus – may you encounter his kindness tonight!
Aussie Jingle Bells
Dashing through the bush in a rusty Holden ute
Kicking up the dust, esky in the boot.
Kelpie by my side, singing Christmas songs.
It’s summer time and I am in my singlet, shorts and thongs!
Oh, Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way
Christmas in Australia on a Scorching summer’s day
Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Christmas time is beaut!
Oh what fun it is to ride in a rusty Holden ute!
Engine’s getting hot dodge the Kangaroos.
Swaggie climbs aboard, he is welcome too
All the family’s there, sitting by the pool
Christmas day, the Aussie way: by the barbeque!
Oh, Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way
Christmas in Australia on a Scorching summer’s day
Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Christmas time is beaut!
Oh what fun it is to ride in a rusty Holden ute!
Come the afternoon grandpa has a doze
The kids and Uncle Bruce are swimming in their clothes
The time comes round to go, we take a family snap
Then pack the car and all shoot through Before the washing up!
Oh, Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way
Christmas in Australia on a Scorching summer’s day
Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Christmas time is beaut!
Oh what fun it is to ride in a rusty Holden ute!
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen,
Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen
But do you recall the most famous reindeer of all?
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it you would even say it glows
All of the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph join in any reindeer games
Then one foggy Christmas Eve Santa came to say
“Rudolph, with your nose so bright, won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?”
Then how the reindeer loved him, as they shouted out with glee,
“Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, you’ll go down in history”
Come on, ring those bells
Come on, ring those bells! Light the Christmas tree!
Jesus is the King, born for you and me.
Come on, ring those bells! Everybody say:
“Jesus we remember this your birthday”
Everybody likes to take a holiday
Everybody likes to take a rest
Spending time together with the family
Sharing lots of love and happiness
Come on, ring those bells! Light the Christmas tree!
Jesus is the King, born for you and me.
Come on, ring those bells! Everybody say:
“Jesus we remember this your birthday”
Celebrations come because of something good
Celebrations we love to recall
Mary had a baby boy in Bethlehem
A joyful celebration for us all
Come on, ring those bells! Light the Christmas tree!
Jesus is the King, born for you and me.
Come on, ring those bells! Everybody say:
“Jesus we remember this your birthday”
Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
Hark! the herald angels sing:
‘Glory to the new-born King!
Peace on earth and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled!’
Joyful, all ye nations rise; join the triumph of the skies,
With angelic host proclaim: ‘Christ is born in Bethlehem!’
Hark! the herald angels sing: ‘Glory to the new-born King!’
Christ by highest heaven adored; Christ the everlasting Lord.
Late in time behold Him come: offspring of a virgin’s womb.
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see; Hail incarnate Deity.
Pleased as man with man to dwell: Jesus our Emanuel.
Hark the herald angels sing: ‘Glory to the new-born King!’
Hail the heaven-born Prince of Peace!
Hail, the Son of righteousness!
Light and life to all He brings, risen with healing in His wings.
Mild, He lays His glory by, born that men no more need die.
Born to raise the sons of earth, born to give them second birth.
Hark! the herald angels sing: ‘Glory to the new-born King.’
Miracle Child
Miracle Child born to a scared virgin girl,
she trusted that God had a plan: the babe in her hands.
Vulnerable child born at the back of the inn,
hardly the place for a king, yet now angels sing
Glory to God! Glory to God in the highest!
Glory to God! Glory to God in the highest!
Heavenly son, prophets predicted His birth,
said He would shine light in the dark: the bright morning star.
Wonderful son, bringing the captives release,
meeting the worlds deepest need: our prince of peace.
Glory to God! Glory to God in the highest!
Glory to God! Glory to God in the highest!
This is Jesus, coming to save us;
join the angels singing His praises
This is Jesus, coming to save us;
join the angels singing His praises
Glory to God! Glory to God in the highest!
Glory to God! Glory to God in the highest!
Go Tell It On The Mountain
Go, tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere.
Go, tell it on the mountain that Jesus Christ is born.
Down in a lowly manger the humble Christ was born,
and God sent us salvation that blessed Christmas morn.
Go, tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere.
Go, tell it on the mountain that Jesus Christ is born.
While shepherds kept their watching over silent flocks by night,
behold throughout the heavens there shone a holy light.
Go, tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere.
Go, tell it on the mountain that Jesus Christ is born.
The shepherds feared and trembled when lo! above the earth
rang out the angels’ chorus that hailed our Saviour’s birth.
Go, tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere.
Go, tell it on the mountain that Jesus Christ is born.
Go, tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere.
Go, tell it on the mountain that Jesus Christ is born.
Once in Royal David’s City
Once, in royal David’s city, stood a lowly cattle shed
where a mother laid her baby in a manger for His bed.
Mary was that mother mild, Jesus Christ, her little child.
He came down to earth from heaven who is God and Lord of all.
And His shelter was a stable, and His cradle was a stall:
With the poor and meek and lowly lived on earth our Saviour holy.
And our eyes at last shall see Him through His own redeeming love.
For that child, so dear and gentle, is our Lord in heaven above.
And He leads His children on to the place where He is gone.
Little Donkey
Little donkey, little donkey on a dusty road
Got to keep on plodding onward with your precious load.
Been a long time little donkey through the winter’s night.
Don’t give up now, little donkey, Bethlehem’s in sight.
Ring out those bells tonight: Bethlehem, Bethlehem.
Follow that star tonight: Bethlehem, Bethlehem.
Little donkey, little donkey, had a heavy day.
Little donkey, carry Mary safely on her way.
Little donkey, little donkey, journey’s end is near.
There are wise men waiting for a sign to bring them here.
Do not falter, little donkey, there’s a star ahead.
It will guide you, little donkey to a cattle shed.
Ring out those bells tonight: Bethlehem, Bethlehem.
Follow that star tonight: Bethlehem, Bethlehem.
Little donkey, little donkey, had a heavy day.
Little donkey, carry Mary safely on her way.
While Shepherds Watched
While shepherds watched their flocks by night, all seated on the ground,
the angel of the Lord came down and glory shone around.
“Fear not” said he, for mighty dread had seized their troubled minds.
“Glad tidings of great joy I bring to you and all mankind.”
“To you in David’s town this day is born of David’s line
a Saviour who is Christ the Lord – and this shall be the sign:”
“The heavenly babe you there shall find to human view displayed.
All meanly wrapped in swaddling bands and in a manger laid.”
So spoke the angel; then forthwith appeared a shining throng
of angels, praising God, who thus addressed their joyful song:
“All glory be to God on high and on the earth be peace;
goodwill hence forth from heaven to men begin and never cease.”
Silent night
Silent night, holy night!
All is calm all is bright round yon virgin mother and Child;
Holy Infant so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace. Sleep in heavenly peace.
Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight: Glories stream from heaven afar,
Heavenly hosts sing alleluia:
Christ the Saviour is born! Christ the Saviour is born!
Silent night, holy night!
Son of God, love’s pure light, radiant, beams from Your holy face
with the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord, at Your birth, Jesus, Lord, at Your birth.
Mary’s boy child
Long time ago in Bethlehem, so the Holy Bible say,
Mary’s boy child, Jesus Christ, was born on Christmas Day.
Hark now hear the angels sing, a new King born today!
And man may live forever more because of Christmas Day.
While shepherds watched their flocks by night
they saw a bright new shining star,
and heard a choir from heaven sing, the music came from a far.
Hark now hear the angels sing, a new King born today!
And man may live forever more because of Christmas Day.
Now Joseph and his wife Mary came to Bethlehem that night.
They found no place to bear her child; not a single room was in sight.
By and by they found a little nook in a stable all forlorn.
And in a manger, cold and dark, Mary’s little child was born.
Hark now hear the angels sing, a new King born today!
And man may live forever more because of Christmas Day.
Trumpets sound and angels sing! Listen to what they say:
that man may live forever more because of Christmas Day!
Trumpets sound and angels sing! Listen to what they say:
that man may live forever more because of Christmas Day!
OH Holy Night
Oh holy night, the stars are brightly shining.
It is the night of the dear Saviour’s birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining,
till He appeared and the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices,
for yonder breaks a new and glorious morn!
Fall on your knees, Oh hear the angel voices,
Oh night divine, Oh night when Christ was born,
Oh night, Oh holy night, Oh night divine!
Led by the light of faith serenely beaming,
with glowing hearts by His cradle we stand.
So led by light of a star sweetly gleaming,
here came the wise men from Orient land.
The King of kings lay thus in lowly manger,
in all our trials born to be our Friend.
He knows our need, to our weakness is no stranger.
Behold your King, before him lowly bend.
Behold your King, before Him lowly bend.
Truly He taught us to love one another,
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother,
and in His name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
let all within us praise His holy name.
Christ is the Lord: Oh praise His name forever!
His power and glory evermore proclaim!
His power and glory evermore proclaim!
We three kings of orient are
We three kings of Orient are. Bearing gifts we traverse afar –
field and fountain moor and mountain – following yonder star.
Oh star of wonder, star of night, star with royal beauty bright,
Westward leading, still proceeding, guide us to your perfect light.
Born a King on Bethlehem’s plain, Gold I bring to crown Him again.
King forever, ceasing never over us all to reign.
Oh star of wonder, star of night, star with royal beauty bright,
Westward leading, still proceeding, guide us to your perfect light.
Men: Frankincense to offer have I; incense owns a Deity nigh:
Prayer and praising all men raising, worship Him, God most high.
Oh star of wonder, star of night, star with royal beauty bright,
Westward leading, still proceeding, guide us to your perfect light.
Ladies: Myrrh is mine, its bitter perfume
breathes a life of gathering gloom: sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying,
sealed in the stone-cold tomb
Oh star of wonder, star of night, star with royal beauty bright,
Westward leading, still proceeding, guide us to your perfect light.
Glorious now, behold Him arise:
King, and God, and sacrifice!
“Alleluia, alleluia!” sounds through the earth and skies.
Oh star of wonder, star of night, star with royal beauty bright,
Westward leading, still proceeding, guide us to your perfect light.
Oh come, all ye faithful
Oh come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant!
Oh come ye, Oh come ye to Bethlehem.
Come and behold Him born the King of angels:
Oh come let us adore Him, Oh come let us adore Him.
Oh come let us adore Him: Christ the Lord.
Sing choirs of angels, sing in exultation,
sing, all ye citizens of heaven above: Glory to God in the highest:
Oh come let us adore Him, Oh come let us adore Him.
Oh come let us adore Him: Christ the Lord.
Yes Lord, we greet Thee, born this happy morning, Jesus to Thee be all glory given.
Word of the Father now in flesh appearing:
Oh come let us adore Him, Oh come let us adore Him.
Oh come let us adore Him: Christ the Lord.
Joy to the World
Joy to the world! the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King,
Let every heart prepare Him room,
and heaven and nature sing,
and heaven and nature sing,
and heaven, and heaven and nature sing!
Joy to the earth! the Saviour reigns!
Let men their songs employ,
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat the sounding joy!
He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness
and wonders of His love,
And wonders of His love,
and wonders, wonders of His love.
