Welcome!

As your local churches, we're excited to be presenting the Comet Bay Carols this year. We love to celebrate the birth of Jesus more than 2000 years ago. We believe that Jesus was more than just another man, and even more than just another wise man. We believe that the Jesus we're remembering today is God become man. One of the titles given to Jesus in the Bible is Emmanuel: God with us. The Bible says God became a man so that he could rescue us back to himself. God loves the world so much that he gave his only Son, Jesus, for us. Anyone who puts their trust in him won't perish, even if they die, but will be with God forever. Christmas is about God coming to be with us and make a way for us to be with him forever... and that's something worth getting excited about!

If you'd like to find out more about Jesus, we'd love to speak with you at the church stall. We'd also like to extend an invitation to everyone to visit any of our church services over Christmas.

We hope and pray that you have a wonderful evening!

These carols brought to you by:

Come on, ring those bells!

Come on, ring those bells;
light the Christmas tree!
Jesus is the King born for you and me!
Come on, ring those bells; everybody say,
"Jesus, we remember this your birthday."

Everybody likes to take a holiday;
everybody likes to take a rest.
Spending time together with the family
sharing lots of love and happiness.

Come on, ring those bells;
light the Christmas tree!
Jesus is the King born for you and me!
Come on, ring those bells; everybody say,
"Jesus, we remember this your birthday."

Celebrations come because of something good,
celebrations we love to recall:
Mary had a baby boy in Bethlehem,
a joyful celebration for us all.

Come on, ring those bells;
light the Christmas tree!
Jesus is the King born for you and me!
Come on, ring those bells; everybody say,
"Jesus, we remember this your birthday."

O Come all Ye Faithful

O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant!
O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem!
Come and behold Him, born the King of angels;

O come let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come let us adore Him:
Christ the Lord!

Sing, choirs of angels,
sing in exultation,
sing, all ye citizens of heaven above:
"Glory to God in the highest!"

O come let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come let us adore Him:
Christ the Lord!

Yes, Lord, we greet Thee,
born this happy morning.
Jesus, to Thee be all glory given!
Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing.

O come let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come let us adore Him:
Christ the Lord!

Angels We Have Heard On High

Angels we have heard on high,
sweetly singing over the plains!
And the mountains in reply
echoing their joyous strains.

Gloria in excelsis Deo! Gloria in excelsis Deo.

Shepherds, why this jubilee?
Why your joyous strains prolong?
Say what may the tidings be
which inspire your heavenly song?

Gloria in excelsis Deo! Gloria in excelsis Deo.

Come to Bethlehem and see
Him whose birth the angels sing:
Come adore on bended knee
Christ, the Lord, the new-born King!

Gloria in excelsis Deo! Gloria in excelsis Deo.!

O LITTLE TOWN OF BETHLEHEM

O little town of Bethlehem,
how still we see thee lie!
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
the silent stars go by;
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
the everlasting Light:
The hopes and fears of all the years
are met in thee tonight.

For Christ is born of Mary,
and gathered all above,
while mortals sleep, the angels keep
their watch of wondering love.
O morning stars, together
proclaim the holy birth!
And praises sing to God the King,
and peace to men on earth.

How silently, how silently
the wondrous gift is given!
So God imparts to human hearts
the blessings of His heaven.
No ear may hear His coming,
but in this world of sin,
Where meek souls will receive Him still
the dear Christ enters in.

O holy child of Bethlehem!
descend to us, we pray;
cast out our sin and enter in,
be born in us today.
We hear the Christmas angels
the great glad tidings tell;
O come to us, abide with us,
our Lord Emanuel.

ONCE IN ROYAL DAVID'S CITY

Once, in royal David's city,
stood a lowly cattle shed,
Where a mother laid her baby
in a manger for His bed.
Mary was that mother mild,
Jesus Christ, her little child.

He came down to earth from heaven,
who is God and Lord of all,
and His shelter was a stable,
and His cradle was a stall.
With the poor and meek and lowly
lived on earth our Saviour holy.

And our eyes at last shall see Him
through His own redeeming love.
For that child, so dear and gentle,
is our Lord in heaven above.
And he leads His children on
to the place where He is gone.

THE FIRST NOËL

The first noël, the angels did say,
was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay;
in fields where they lay keeping their sheep
on a cold winter's night that was so deep.

Noël, noël, noël, noël!
Born is the King of Israel.

They looked up and saw a star
shining in the East beyond them far;
and to the earth it gave great light,
and so it continued both day and night.

Noël, noël, noël, noël!
Born is the King of Israel.

This star drew nigh to the north-west,
over Bethlehem it took its rest;
and there it did stop and stay
right over the place where Jesus lay.

Noël, noël, noël, noël!
Born is the King of Israel.

Then let us all with one accord
sing praises to our heavenly Lord
that hath made heaven and earth of naught,
and with His blood mankind hath bought.

Noël, noël, noël, noël!
Born is the King of Israel.

Luke 2:1-7

About that time Emperor Augustus gave orders for the names of all the people to be listed in record books. These first records were made when Quirinius was governor of Syria.

Everyone had to go to their own hometown to be listed. So Joseph had to leave Nazareth in Galilee and go to Bethlehem in Judea. Long ago Bethlehem had been King David's hometown, and Joseph went there because he was from David's family.

Mary was engaged to Joseph and traveled with him to Bethlehem. She was soon going to have a baby, and while they were there, she gave birth to her first-born son. She dressed him in baby clothes and laid him on a bed of hay, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Luke 2:8-20

That night in the fields near Bethlehem some shepherds were guarding their sheep. All at once an angel came down to them from the Lord, and the brightness of the Lord's glory flashed around them. The shepherds were frightened. But the angel said, "Don't be afraid! I have good news for you, which will make everyone happy. This very day in King David's hometown a Saviour was born for you. He is Christ the Lord. You will know who he is, because you will find him dressed in baby clothes and lying on a bed of hay."

Suddenly many other angels came down from heaven and joined in praising God. They said: "Praise God in heaven! Peace on earth to everyone who pleases God."

After the angels had left and gone back to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see what the Lord has told us about." They hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and they saw the baby lying on a bed of hay.

When the shepherds saw Jesus, they told his parents what the angel had said about him. Everyone listened and was surprised. But Mary kept thinking about all this and wondering what it meant.

As the shepherds returned to their sheep, they were praising God and saying wonderful things about him. Everything they had seen and heard was just as the angel had said.

WHILE SHEPHERDS WATCHED

While shepherds watched their flocks by night,
all seated on the ground,
the angel of the Lord came down
and glory shone around.

"Fear not" said he, "I bring to you
glad news of greatest joy:
The Saviour, who is Christ the Lord,
is born a heavenly boy."

So spoke the angel; then with him
appeared a shining throng of angels,
praising God, who gladly sang their joyful song:

"All glory be to God on high
and on the earth be peace;
goodwill and joy from heaven to men
begin and never cease."

SILENT NIGHT (Stille Nacht)

Stille nacht, heilige nacht,
alles schläft, einsam wacht.
Nur das traute hochleigige Paar,
holder knabe im lockigen Haar.
Schlaf' in himmlischer ruh.
Schlaf' in himmlischer ruh.

Silent night, holy night,
all is calm, all is bright
round yon virgin, mother and child;
Holy infant so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
sleep in heavenly peace.

Silent night, holy night,
shepherds quake at the sight.
Glories stream from heaven afar,
heavenly hosts sing alleluia;
Christ the Saviour is born!
Christ the Saviour is born!

Silent night, holy night,
Son of God, love's pure light.
Radiant beams from your holy face
with the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord, at your birth,
Jesus, Lord, at your birth

HARK THE HERALD ANGELS SING

Hark! The herald angels sing,
"Glory to the new-born King!
Peace on earth, and mercy mild;
God and sinners reconciled!"
Joyful all ye nations, rise,
join the triumph of the skies;
With angelic hosts proclaim,
"Christ is born in Bethlehem!"
Hark! The herald angels sing,
"Glory to the new-born King!"

Christ, by highest heaven adored;
Christ, the everlasting Lord;
Late in time behold Him come,
offspring of a virgin's womb.
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see,
hail incarnate deity!
Pleased as man with man to dwell;
Jesus, our Emanuel.
Hark! The herald angels sing,
"Glory to the new-born King!"

Hail, the heaven-born Prince of Peace!
Hail the Son of Righteousness!
Light and life to all He brings,
risen with healing in His wings.
Mild He lays His glory by,
born that man no more need die,
born to raise the sons of earth,
born to give them second birth:
Hark! The herald angels sing,
"Glory to the new-born King!"

Luke 2:25-35

At this time a man named Simeon was living in Jerusalem. Simeon was a good man. He loved God and was waiting for God to save the people of Israel. God's Spirit came to him and told him that he would not die until he had seen Christ the Lord.

When Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to the temple to do what the Law of Moses says should be done for a new baby, the Spirit told Simeon to go into the temple. Simeon took the baby Jesus in his arms and praised God, "Lord, I am your servant, and now I can die in peace, because you have kept your promise to me. With my own eyes I have seen what you have done to save your people, and foreign nations will also see this. Your mighty power is a light for all nations, and it will bring honour to your people Israel."

Jesus' parents were surprised at what Simeon had said. Then he blessed them and told Mary, "This child of yours will cause many people in Israel to fall and others to stand. The child will be like a warning sign. Many people will reject him, and you, Mary, will suffer as though you had been stabbed by a dagger. But all this will show what people are really thinking."

WE THREE KINGS OF ORIENT ARE

We three kings of orient are,
bearing gifts we traverse afar:
field and fountain, moor and mountain,
following yonder star.

O star of wonder, star of night,
star with royal beauty bright.
Westward leading, still proceeding,
guide us to your perfect light.

Born a king on Bethlehem's plain,
Gold I bring to crown Him again,
king forever, ceasing never
over us all to reign.

O star of wonder, star of night,
star with royal beauty bright.
Westward leading, still proceeding,
guide us to your perfect light.

Frankincense to offer have I,
incense owns a deity nigh;
Prayer and praising all men raising,
worship Him, God on high.

O star of wonder, star of night,
star with royal beauty bright.
Westward leading, still proceeding,
guide us to your perfect light.

Myrrh is mine, its bitter perfume
breathes a life of gathering gloom:
sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying,
sealed in the stone-cold tomb.

O star of wonder, star of night,
star with royal beauty bright.
Westward leading, still proceeding,
guide us to your perfect light.

Glorious now, behold Him arise:
King and God and Sacrifice.
Alleluia, alleluia!
Sounds through the earth and skies.

O star of wonder, star of night,
star with royal beauty bright.
Westward leading, still proceeding,
guide us to your perfect light.

Matthew 2:1-12

CALYPSO CAROL

See Him lying on a bed of straw;
a draughty stable with an open door;
Mary cradling the babe she bore
the Prince of Glory is His name.

O now carry me to Bethlehem
to see the Lord appear to men.
Just as poor as was the stable then,
the Prince of Glory when He came.

Star of silver sweep across the skies,
show where Jesus in the manger lies,
Shepherds, swiftly from your stupor rise
to see the Saviour of the world.

O now carry me to Bethlehem
to see the Lord appear to men.
Just as poor as was the stable then,
the Prince of Glory when He came.

Angels, sing again the song you sang,
bring God's glory to the heart of man:
sing that Bethlehem's little baby can
be the Saviour of us all.

O now carry me to Bethlehem
to see the Lord appear to men.
Just as poor as was the stable then,
the Prince of Glory when He came.

Mine are riches, from Your poverty:
from Your innocence, eternity;
mine, forgiveness by Your death for me,
child of sorrow for my joy.

O now carry me to Bethlehem
to see the Lord appear to men.
Just as poor as was the stable then,
the Prince of Glory when He came.

MARY'S BOY CHILD

Long time ago in Bethlehem,
so the Holy Bible say,
Mary's Boy Child, Jesus Christ,
was born on Christmas Day.

Hark, now hear the angels sing
a new King born today!
And man may live for evermore
because of Christmas Day.

While shepherds watched their flocks by night
they saw a bright new shining star,
and heard a choir from heaven sing,
the music came from afar.

Hark, now hear the angels sing
a new King born today!
And man may live for evermore
because of Christmas Day.

Now Joseph and his wife, Mary,
came to Bethlehem that night.
They found no place to bear her child,
not a single room was in sight.

Hark, now hear the angels sing
a new King born today!
And man may live for evermore
because of Christmas Day.

By-and-by they found a little nook,
in a stable all forlorn.
And in a manger, cold and dark,
Mary's little boy child was born.

Hark, now hear the angels sing
a new King born today!
And man may live for evermore
because of Christmas Day.

Trumpets sound and angels sing,
listen to what they say,
That man may live for evermore
because of Christmas Day.

Trumpets sound and angels sing,
listen to what they say,
That man may live for evermore
because of Christmas Day.

Matthew 2:13-15

After the wise men had gone, an angel from the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, "Get up! Hurry and take the child and his mother to Egypt! Stay there until I tell you to return, because Herod is looking for the child and wants to kill him."

That night, Joseph got up and took his wife and the child to Egypt, where they stayed until Herod died. So the Lord's promise came true, just as the prophet had said, "I called my son out of Egypt."

MIRACLE CHILD

Miracle Child, born to a scared virgin girl.
She trusted that God had a plan:
the babe in her hands.
Vulnerable child, born at the back of the inn,
hardly the place for a king,
yet now angels sing:

Glory to God, glory to God in the highest.
Glory to God, glory to God in the highest.

Heavenly son, prophets predicted His birth,
said He would shine light in the dark:
the bright morning star.
Wonderful son, bringing the captives release,
meeting the world's deepest need:
our prince of peace.

Glory to God, glory to God in the highest.
Glory to God, glory to God in the highest.

This is Jesus, coming to save us;
Join the angels, singing His praises.
This is Jesus, coming to save us;
Join the angels, singing His praises.

Glory to God, glory to God in the highest.
Glory to God, glory to God in the highest.

AWAY IN A MANGER

Away in a manger; no crib for a bed,
the little Lord Jesus laid down His sweet head.
The stars in the bright sky looked down where He lay,
the little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.

The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes.
But little Lord Jesus, no crying He makes.
I love you, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky
and stay by my side until morning is nigh.

Be near me, Lord Jesus. I ask you to stay
close by me forever, and love me I pray;
bless all the dear children in Your tender care
and fit us for heaven, to live with You there.

GO TELL IT ON THE MOUNTAIN

Go, tell it on the mountain,
over the hills and everywhere.
Go, tell it on the mountain
that Jesus Christ is born.

Down in a lowly manger
the humble Christ was born,
and God sent us salvation
that blessed Christmas morn.

Go, tell it on the mountain,
over the hills and everywhere.
Go, tell it on the mountain
that Jesus Christ is born.

While shepherds kept their watching
over silent flocks by night,
behold throughout the heavens
there shone a holy light.

Go, tell it on the mountain,
over the hills and everywhere.
Go, tell it on the mountain
that Jesus Christ is born.

The shepherds feared and trembled
when lo! above the earth
rang out the angels' chorus
that hailed our Saviour's birth.

Go, tell it on the mountain,
over the hills and everywhere.
Go, tell it on the mountain
that Jesus Christ is born.

JOY TO THE WORLD

Joy to the world, the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King.
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And heaven and nature sing,
and heaven and nature sing,
and heaven, and heaven and nature sing.

Joy to the earth, the Saviour reigns!
Let men their songs employ,
while fields and floods,
rocks, hills and plains
repeat the sounding joy,
repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat the sounding joy.

He rules the world with truth and grace,
and makes the nations prove
the glories of
His righteousness
and wonders of His love,
and wonders of His love,
and wonders, wonders of His love.

FELIZ NAVIDAD

Feliz Navidad!
Feliz Navidad!
Feliz Navidad!
Prospero año y felicidad.
Feliz Navidad!
Feliz Navidad!
Feliz Navidad!
Prospero año y felicidad.

We wanna wish you a merry Christmas!
We wanna wish you a merry Christmas!
We wanna wish you a merry Christmas!
From the bottom of our hearts.

We wanna wish you a merry Christmas!
We wanna wish you a merry Christmas!
We wanna wish you a merry Christmas!
From the bottom of our hearts.

He Reigns!

It's the song of the redeemed rising from the African plain.
It's the song of the forgiven drowning out the Amazon rain.
The song of Asian believers filled with God's holy fire.
It's every tribe, every tongue, every nation
a love song born of a grateful choir.

It's all God's children singing,
"Glory, glory, hallelujah He reigns, He reigns!"
It's all God's children singing,
"Glory, glory, hallelujah He reigns, He reigns!"

Let it rise about the four winds caught up in the heavenly sound
Let praises echo from the towers of cathedrals to the faithful gathered underground.
Of all the songs sung from the dawn of creation some were meant to persist.
Of all the bells rung from a thousand steeples,
none rings truer than this.

It's all God's children singing,
"Glory, glory, hallelujah He reigns, He reigns!"
It's all God's children singing,
"Glory, glory, hallelujah He reigns, He reigns!"

And all the powers of darkness tremble at what they've just heard...
'cause all the powers of darkness can't drown out a single word!

It's all God's children singing,
"Glory, glory, hallelujah He reigns, He reigns!"
It's all God's children singing,
"Glory, glory, hallelujah He reigns, He reigns!"
